Welcome Jack! Today was Jack's first day on the job. Jack graduated from "Dog School" last week in Georgia and is now officially our newest staff member. The kids liked seeing Jack in the schools today. Jack is assigned to our SRO and, in addition to being very friendly, can detect firearms and track missing persons.

A look at what our JH students in the 7th and 8th Grade Tech II classes get to complete! Students created a "Mechanism Windfarm" using mechanisms instead of wind for the power source. Students built all 12 mechanisms in class then were asked to build a windmill using at least 2 of the mechanisms from the unit. Way to go students!!

Jay County Jr-Sr High would like to give a big thanks to our JROTC program for hosting this year's Enlistee Breakfast for our students who have committed to the Armed Forces. It was exciting to celebrate these commitments in front of family, school personnel, active duty military, and veterans, who came to represent their service organizations. Included in the pictures below is Mr. Glen Bryant, veteran and long time guidance counselor at the high school. Best Wishes to our enlistees, Tylor Betz and Dayton Ross . Thank you for your service!

7th and 8th Grade JH Spring Dance Reminder: The 8th Grade Honor Society is pleased to announce that this year’s Spring Dance will be held on Saturday May 7th, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. This dance is open to all 7th and 8th grade Jay County Jr- Sr High School Students . Tickets will be sold during lunch time Monday May 2nd- Friday May 6th. No tickets will be sold at the door. The cost of the dance is $5.00 per student. As in the past, the school dress code applies. Formal wear is NOT required. Dresses must be fingertip length or longer, no midriffs and must have straps. Please see page 16 in the 2021-2022 Student Handbook for the full dress code for Jay County Jr-Sr High School. Students will need to be dropped off by the North Auxiliary Gym Doors, which will open at 3:00 p.m. Parents are not advised to drop their student off until 2:45 ish and all pictures should be taken before arriving at the school. We are asking that parents do not congregate in the parking lot due to parking lot safety concerns. Students will not be permitted to leave the Auxiliary Gym until 6:00 pm. Once a student enters the gym, they will be required to stay in the gym. Students will have the opportunity to buy concessions between 3 and 6 pm, please send additional cash with your student if you would like them to buy concessions. We do recommend that you send your student with $1 and $5 bills, last year we had a hard time giving change because of too many $20s. This dance is for Jay County Jr-Sr High School 7th and 8th grade students ONLY! Any student that has received an In-School or Out of School Suspension during the 4th Cycle will not be eligible to attend the Spring Dance. Also, be aware that these plans are subject to change if COVID conditions throughout the county change. Further information regarding dance details will be released at a further date. Questions about the dance should be directed toward Mrs. Chrisman or Mrs. Allred, 8th Grade Honor Society sponsors. lchrisman@jayschools.k12.in.us callred@jayschools.k12.in.us
