East Jay Fundraiser Update:
If you are needing another box of chocolate, the delivery will be in on Friday!
Yesterday was the Fall Fundraiser Kick-Off at East Jay Elementary. Students are eager to sell chocolate bars to help raise money to support Student Activities and Programs throughout the year and a chance to win prizes. Parents--It's not too late to send back permission slips. When the bars are sold, send in the full payment (CASH ONLY) in the envelope provided. Make sure to fill in your student's name and sign it.
CONGRATULATIONS, BENTLEY BERRY! Bentley was the winner of the Flat Screen TV.
EJE would like to wish our Jay County Patriots GOOD LUCK at tonight's homecoming game. The students have enjoyed dress-up days and door decorating contests to cheer on our high school football team. GAME ON!
REMINDER for East Jay Elementary Parents:
Printed information fliers/permission slips went home earlier this week. The deadline for the prize drawing is Monday!
East Jay Elementary third graders each received a dictionary from The Dictionary Project. This non-profit organization raises money to provide dictionaries to over a half million third grade students across the nation. Locally, The Portland Foundation serves as the coordinators of this project, to get dictionaries into the hands of our students. Jay Schools were the first in Indiana to participate in the program 20 years ago. Mr. Doug Inman, Executive Director of The Portland Foundation, and Mr. Jeremy Gulley, Superintendent of Jay Schools and President of the Board of Trustees of the foundation, visited East Jay today to speak to third graders and assist in distributing the books.
A big THANK YOU to all the donors and supporters of this worthwhile educational program.

Miss Heyne's fifth grade student's recently worked together to Save Fred. The objective of the Saving Fred activity is for students to work together to rescue Fred, whose "boat" has turned right side up, and they need to put on his "life preserver" without dropping him in the "lake". This activity helps children with problem solving, communication, and developing teamwork skills.
