Dear 3-6 WJE Families, The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) is piloting three checkpoints for Grades 3-8 in the 2024-2025 school year. These checkpoints are a new component of the new LEARN through-year assessment for English/Language Arts (ELA) and Math, which will be given to all students in Indiana beginning in school year 2025-2026. Your child’s school will take part in the pilot program this year. The checkpoints will take place in Fall, Winter, and Spring. Each checkpoint has 20-25 questions and will show how your child is doing in key skills and concepts from the Indiana Academic Standards. This helps guide teaching and supports your child's learning. For more information about the ILEARN checkpoints, click here to watch a 5-minute video overview. Below are the skills and concepts that will be assessed for each . Please go to this link to see the skills and concepts that will be assessed at each grade level : checkpoint.https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xCtUQmlZ00kCuR38NmwZqv2LDM7MTmyf/view?usp=sharing

Dear WJE Families, The decision has been made to postpone WJE Field Day to next Tuesday, May 21st. This decision was made because we are expected to have rain tonight and a greater chance for rain tomorrow (Friday) compared to Tuesday. It is our hope that the rain will stay away and we will have clear skies and sunshine on Tuesday. Thank you, Mr. D

Dear West Jay Parents, We have been informed that there is a major water leak in the town of Dunkirk. We are anticipating the fact that water may be out for an extended period of time. Because of this, we will be doing an early dismissal for students who can be picked up as car riders. Buses will not run an early route, however busing will be an option at the regular dismissal time at the end of the school day for parents who are unable to arrange other transportation. Parents may begin picking up their students at 10:30 AM. If you have have a person picking up your child who is not on the approved pick up list, please communicate that information with your childs teacher or the front office. Parents who will be picking up their children beginning at 10:30 AM will need to follow the regular afternoon pick up pattern with K-2 pick up on the west side and 3-6 pick up on the west side. Thank you, Mr. Jeff Davis
