This is just a friendly reminder that Thanksgiving Break for The Jay School Corporation will begin tomorrow and run through Friday, November 25th, 2022. There will be no school on these days. School at WJE will resume at the normal time on Monday, November 28th, 2022. The teachers and staff of WJE wish all families a Happy Thanksgiving!!

Veterans Day at WJE!!
Today WJE had to opportunity to thank over 30 local veterans for their service to our Country! LTC Chip Phillips spoke to students about what it means to be a Veteran and why his service to his Country was so important. Students sang songs, read poems, and shared posters as a way of saying THANK YOU to our Veterans for their service to our Country. THANK YOU VETERANS FOR YOUR SERVICE!
West Jay Elementary would like to invite all local veterans to our Veterans Day Program on Friday, November 11th at 9:00 AM. During this Program we will be honoring all Veterans and the sacrifices they have made serving their Country. Refreshments will be served following the Program.

Dear West Jay Eagle Kindergarten Families,
We are ready to soar EAGLES!!
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL:
Because we understand that the first day of kindergarten is a very important first step in a child’s educational journey, we are delaying the start of the first day of school for kindergarteners to 9:00 AM on Thursday, August 11th, 2022. We feel that delay will help the transition of both students and parents. We understand that some children may be riding the bus to school that morning and arrive at the normal start of school and that is perfectly fine.
Here is more specific information about the kindergarten delay on Thursday:
Parking: Parents may park their cars in the west lot and enter with their child at door #1. From this point both students and parents may proceed to the kindergarten classroom. While in the classroom the parent(s) may help their child with situating their backpack and supplies. Once these steps are completed, we ask parents to say their goodbyes and exit the room.
Kindergarten Bus Students:
Just another reminder that all Kindergarten students must have an adult present at their bus drop off location until Friday, Aug. 19, 2022. This will ensure that the student becomes familiar with the drop off routine. If there is no adult present, the student will be dropped back off at the school of attendance.

Latchkey Information
*For those that use the Latchkey services at REDKEY ELEMENTARY, you will need to use the following phone number to contact personnel when you drop off your students and when you are picking them up. 260-703-0827 This is to ensure the safety of all of our students in this program. Please add this to your phone for ease of access in communicating with the Latchkey staff.
Student Drop Off
Students should not be dropped off or arrive earlier than 7:35 AM here at West Jay Elementary. It will not be safe for students to arrive before this time as there will be no supervision available.
